VIRTUAL GALLERY EXPERIMENTATION (Pt 1 & 2)
The Virtual Gallery Series originally started as a commission by MFA Fine Art students at CalArts for creating their personal virtual art galleries due to their gallery night been cancelled by the Covid-19 global pandemic. I've developed a way to digitize oil paintings into 3D virtual spaces while maintaining their brushstrokes and depth instead of being just a flat-out texture. This later gave me the idea of digitizing my own oil paintings and experiment with creating surreal, out of this world galleries to display them.
Due to copyrights, I couldn't show other people's virtual galleries I've created on this page, but you can browse two of my best personal virtual galleries here. The three paintings featured here are my oil paintings titled Ocean 1, 2&3. They were painted on 14 by 11 inch canvases and digitally altered to look deeper. Both virtual galleries are about exploring the possibility of displaying artworks in surreal or impossible-to-create environment in real life. Everything you see here were created by me using a 3d modeling program named Blender, including the sky and ocean (water).
